THE BAND

JAMIE // Vocal - Keyboard

Jamie is a multi-awarded singer and jazz piano player, and one of the founders of Clavinova Nights jazz band

Jamie’s interest in singing started in Grade 5 when he joined his school’s talent show, captivating an audience of more than 100 people by playing the piano and singing the song “What a Wonderful World”. His earliest artist inspiration were songs from John Denver, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin and Jim Croce.   At age 11, Jamie discovered the styles of piano jazz artists David Benoit and Jim Brickman which was when he developed his piano skills towards playing jazz and continues to study styles of other jazz artists.

KALEN // Sax

Kalen began his music career by joining the school band program at Kwayhquitlum Middle school.

After learning the basics of the tenor saxophone and excelling in school band he joined several ensembles including the Greater Vancouver Youth Music Academy and the senior jazz band at Archbishop Carney Regional Secondary school where he played lead sax during concerts.

The Carney jazz band was where Kalen first met Anthony (bass player) and discovered the talents of the original Clavinova Nights. Kalen’s first gig with the band was the school talent show.

Everyone took a liking to the sound produced with the saxophone in the mix and the talent show led to many more performances and his initiation into the band.

His saxophone styles continue to be an audience pleaser.
